Many foreign visitors may enter Korea without a visa as long as they have a valid passport and confirmed outbound tickets. Allowed length of stay varies depending on the country of origin, but is at least 30 days. (Click here for more detailed information about length of stay.)

Conference will be held at the Hotel Hilton, in Gyeongju. Gyeongju is located in the southeastern area of the Korean peninsula, 360 km from Seoul. Room reservation information is available on "Hotel Reservation" page.

If you or your travel agent call United's toll-free number (1-800-521-4041) to book your reservations, you will receive a 10% discount off the lowest applicable discount fare, excluding First Class, or a 15% discount off full coach fares, with no advance purchase. An additional 5% discount will apply when tickets are purchased at least 60 days in advance of your travel. Discounts also apply on United Express. Call United's Specialized Meeting Reservations Center at 1-800-521-4041 to obtain the best fares and schedule information. Make sure you refer to Meeting ID Number 517BM. Dedicated reservationists are on duty 7 days a week from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM EST. Outside the US and Canada, contact the country's local United Reservation Center. (These discounts probably only get you as far as Incheon International Airport, Seoul.)

You can get this discount on Lufthansa flights, but you have to go through the United reservations office. Thus,

• calls the national United representation (or call the US reservation number as shown on the www page) and
• refers to the meeting ID number 517BM and contract # QD7B3E and
• specifies this for the flight partition to Seoul (not Ulsan because this is a Korean domestic flight)
• and insists (!)

United will grant the discount on the corresponding Lufthansa fare and ticket. This may work for all star alliance partners correspondingly. Hope this helps.

For most conference participants, it will be easiest to enter Korea via Seoul. Fly into Incheon International Airport (IIA), take a bus to Gimpo Airport, and then fly to Ulsan Airport, about 30 km away from the conference location. Although the travel time to Gimpo by bus is about 35 minutes, it is recommended that travellers allow 2.5 hours between the arrival of an international flight at Incheon and an outgoing flight from Gimpo.

As the last flight to Ulsan leaves on 21:00 at Gimpo, travellers who arrive in Incheon after 19:00 will need overnight lodging in Seoul.

There are no bus routes to the hotels from the airport. When you call the hotel upon arrival or contact, the hotel bus will pick you up within 10 minutes. It takes 10 minutes. If you can't call directly, you may get help at the Help Desk in airport.

You may stay at a hotel near Gimpo. These hotels are located at 10 - 15 minutes by bus from Gimpo Airport. Free shuttle bus services are available between Gimpo and the hotels if you call the hotel upon arrival at Gimpo.

- Directions from Incheon International Airport to Gimpo Airport
After arriving at Incheon International Airport, take a limousine bus to Gimpo for connecting flights to Ulsan. Please check with your airline about whether they can transfer your luggage to your connecting flight. If not, you will need to bring it with you to Gimpo.

There are several ways to travel between Incheon International Airport and Gimpo Airport. The following options will help you to get Gimpo Airport at minimal expense and with little difficulty.

- Limousine buses
Types of limousine bus are standard and deluxe type. There are many buses to travel IIA between Gimpo Airport, but we strongly recommend the following two limousine buses. You can purchase the bus ticket at information desks located near entrance numbers 2, 4, 9, and 13 on the first floor. You can also purchase bus tickets at the bus stop. The limousine bus picks up passengers at stops outside the first floor. For more information, contact their web site.

Limousine buses from Incheon International Airport to Gimpo Airport:

- Directions from Ulsan Airport
The flight time from Gimpo to Ulsan is about an hour. The ICALEPCS2003 Organizing Committee will provide participants with special transportation from Ulsan Airport to the Hotel Hilton on October 12, 2003. There is also regular limousine bus service from Ulsan Airport to the hotel, which runs four times a day. The ICALEPCS2003 bus runs additional five times only on October 12. The schedule of bus is as follows.

From Ulsan Airport to the Hotel it takes about 60 minutes by limousine bus. The fare is 4,500 Won. On October 12, ICALEPCS2003 will provide free shuttle service for all departure to Hotel Hilton. Helpers will be served on October 12, 2003. Passengers may also take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. The fare is approximately 30,000 - 40,000 Won and the ride takes about 40 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

- Directions from Gimhae International Airport
There is limousine bus service from Gimhae International Airport to the Gyeongju Express Bus Terminal, which runs 12 times a day. The schedule of bus is as follows. The fare is 9,000 Won and the trip takes about two hours. More information about Gimhae International Airport can be found at its web site.

From the bus terminal, passengers can take a taxi to the Hotel Hyundai, which takes about 20 minutes and costs about 10,000 Won.

There is no direct shuttle bus from the Hotel Hilton Gyeongju to the Pohang Airport. However, for the convenience of the participants, we will extend the tour bus to the Pohang Airport after the Facility Tour on October 17 (Friday). Arrival time at the Pohang Airport will be 17:40. Those who want to stop at the Pohang Airport, please inform to the Tour and Information Desk till 12:00, October 15 (Wednesday).
